Our sixth year on the road... 5/2019 - 10/2019
-- The Year of the Canadian Crossing --
Our sixth year on the road was a trip we’ve had on our bucket list since we retired in 2013.  We wanted to discover what it would be like to drive across Canada.  Of course, we threw in a lot of interesting stops both in the US and Canada along the way.  In addition to both the US and Canadian Glacier National Parks we enjoyed several other national parks in Canada, some of which we had never heard of.  They were all breathtaking.  The time we spent with friends and family this year was priceless as always.  One of our highlights however had to be the time we spent with friends in Manitoba.  In addition to spending time together at their home and while attending the Manitoba Stampede we enjoyed a week on a houseboat, a trip unlike anything we’ve ever been on before.  We spent our week anchored in a cove completely off the grid.  With the exception of a few boats going by now and then we enjoyed the peace and tranquility of pure nature.  With wildlife all around us, fishing to enjoy and the peace and quiet of the wilderness, we just relaxed and soaked in life.  And all this took place in one of the most picturesque settings we’ve ever been in.  The drive across Canada turned out to be a great choice.  The highways were mostly two lanes and the traffic was mostly light.  The views were beautiful with mountains, prairies and rolling hills all around us.  And there were very few cities to contend with. Yes, the drive across Canada was worth the wait and will be a trip to remember.
