Our fourth year on the road... 4/2017 - 10/2017
-- The Year of Yellowstone --

Yellowstone National Park is a nearly 3,500 square mile wilderness recreation area atop a volcanic hot spot. Mostly in Wyoming, the park spreads into parts of Montana and Idaho as well. Yellowstone features dramatic canyons, alpine rivers, lush forests, hot springs and gushing geysers, including its most famous, Old Faithful. It's also home to hundreds of animal species, including bears, wolves, bison, elk and antelope. Grand Teton National Park is linked to nearby Yellowstone National Park by the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway and resides in the northwest portion of Wyoming. It encompasses the Teton mountain range, the 13,123 foot Grand Teton peak, and the valley known as Jackson Hole.

This year we planned our road trip with a month in the Yellowstone area as our main objective. Along the way we spent time on the Florida panhandle, took a visit to Charleston, enjoyed time with our family in Massachusetts, dipped our toes in four of the great lakes, toured the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, visited with many friends and attended the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta to top things off. In addition, there were many more exciting stops that I haven’t even mentioned. We enjoyed exceptionally good weather through most of our travels during the six months we were on the road and we had no major mechanical issues. We also spent ten weeks travelling with our friends Bruce & Sue who were taking their first road trip with their new motor home. It was the first time we’ve travelled with others and we couldn’t have asked for a better couple to do it with. While in the Yellowstone area we had gorgeous weather for the entire month. There was the occasional smoky day brought on by fires in the north but is never interfered with our travels. The entire road trip turned out wonderful.
